Behind the series

The idea.

Tell the story of early commercial aviation the way you open a box of archives: an invented airline, ROUVRAY, so that everything can be shown without imitating a real brand, and true, sourced facts so that every episode teaches something.

What was hard.

Holding a period identity from one episode to the next: a monogram that lives on tail fins, title cards and the archive plate, a recurring character whose face does not drift, and an 8 mm look decided in the edit, not at generation.

What we learned.

A series charter is worth a bible: midnight blue, ivory, a touch of gold, one single sign. That is what makes the airline believable.

The airline's monogram, declined on tail fins, title cards and the archive plate.
Lucien Ferrat, galley chef and recurring character: the sheet that locks his face from one episode to the next.
