Text-to-speech
A voice generated from text, chosen among existing timbres, with its language, pace and silences.
Why it matters in production
The voice sets the length of the shots, which is why we record it before animating. We choose one timbre per character and per language (never the same voice for French and English), trim silences that run too long, and treat it in the mix like a real recording: period microphone for an archive, dry room for an office.
